This area in Dublin was originally called the fields of Odin, then later renamed the Hermitage and is now known as St Enda’s park. There are great areas throughout the place Odin’s Cave, the Druids Glen, an Ogham stone and dolmen. All copied from originals by William Hudson. Padraig Pearse converted the house here into a school in 1910. It was all very much part of the Celtic Revivalism in Ireland. His brother the great sculptor William Pearse taught art there and the place was frequented by Celtic mythologist Ella Young.
It was great to visit this place as I’ve a big interest in people like Æ [George Russell] and Ella Young. Young published a series of short stories based on Irish mythology as well as lecturing in it too.
